Sponsored Guide: Black Friday Holiday Gift Ideas

1. Ecobee Smart Home System – For those looking for some smart home upgrades this year, gift ecobee Haven Home Security. It’s a smart home monitoring system designed to keep you connected whenever you need. One of my favorite things is that it is smart enough to know who’s at home, and who is away. I don’t have to worry about anyone accidentally setting off the alarm or forgetting to turn it on as they head out the door.  And if I want to check in on my home or on my kids, then the ecobee SmartCamera lets me see what’s happening live. From November 19 to December 1, ecobee Haven Home Security is on sale for $199. It includes a SmartCamera + 2x SmartSensors for doors and windsor + 2x SmartSensors for indoor motion detection.

2.  Omaha Steaks Tasteful Gift Package – I love giving the gift of experiences. Whether you’re gathering in-person or celebrating virtually, Omaha Steaks is dedicated to delivering experiences that bring people together, and this year is no exception. They offer full meal packages and gifts that are delicious, easy to prepare and delivered right to your doorstep – or someone else’s! Their Tasteful Gift Package features their new Butcher’s Cut Top Sirloins. Visit OmahaSteaks.com or visit one of their 50+ retail stores across the country.

3. Audio Technica ATH – CK3TW Wireless-In Ear Headphones  – Tech is always a hot gift for the holidays. These ATH-CK3TW truly wireless in-ear headphones have an ultra-compact design, and are ready to go whenever and wherever you are, empowering you to “explore and connect.” The really cool thing about these is that they automatically power on and off when they’re taken in and out of the charging case. Also, they can detect when you take them out of your ears and automatically pause the audio. When you put them back in your ears they start playing again – so you never miss a beat!

4. Facebook’s BuyBlack Friday Gift Guide I have found several unique gifts for this holiday season from Facebook’s BuyBlack Friday Gift Guide that are perfect for anyone on your list. If you have someone that loves skincare items, I suggest the Turmeric Botanical Bar available at Redoux NYC. It’s good for all skin types and contains vegan and all-natural ingredients. Or try a Love Jones Candle, a vegan, soy candle with notes of apples, sandalwood and amber available at Maryland based Freres Branchiaux. There’s also these gorgeous St. Margaret Tassel Earrings from The Tiny Tassel in South Carolina. What’s great, is that all of these shops are black-owned small businesses that are a part of Facebook’s BuyBlack Friday campaign to bring awareness and support to black-owned businesses.

Let us know what you are shopping this Black Friday!

TGI Advice: Shopping Tips for Black Friday

Shopping Bags

Holiday season is officially upon us! With celebrating, comes gift-giving and TGI is here to help. Thanksgiving dinner may be the main event this week, but we’re most excited for Black Friday. To make sure you get the most of your shopping, we’ve created a guide on how to navigate this crazy day. (Insider Tip: It’s all in the planning!) Happy Shopping!

Get a good night’s sleep. Deals start as early as 12 AM and you MUST be well rested to make it through this crazy day. Let the turkey do it’s job and hit the hay earlier.

Do your research. Got a favorite store? Get to Googling! Check and see if your favorite shops are offering any good deals to determine if they deserve your precious time (and money!!) on Black Friday.

Make a list and check it twice. Black Friday is not a day where you can just “wing it”. Know the stores you want to hit and the gifts you’re hoping to purchase.

Don’t give in to impulse buys.  Think before you buy.. a great price does not necessarily make a great gift!

Avoid products that only have minor discounts. Don’t be fooled. Some of your go-to Black Friday purchases are not as steal-worthy as you think and Black Friday is about scoring the BEST possible deals! We’ve done some research and determined some key items you should steer clear of…

  • Airfare & Vacation packages (January is a better month to plan your vacations)
  • Chocolates & Flowers (Purchase perishable gifts closer to the holidays)
  • Exercise Equipment (December is a better time for calorie-counters to purchase new equipment!)
  • Designer Clothing (Hit the outlets instead!)
  • Winter Gear (Winter is still in full swing, silly! Winter clothing is in stock everywhere and you’ll be able to find better deals later)
  • High End Laptops (You’ll score a better price on a fancy laptop during the “Back to School” sales)

Understand the store return policy. Beware! Stores often implement “Final Sale” policies on Black Friday. Make sure you can return items that you are unsure of. If you’re buying a product as a gift, make sure the recipient can return the item if it’s not something they’re crazy about.

Products that we ALWAYS go for on Black Friday. As we’ve already stated, Black Friday is what we’re REALLY excited to celebrate. We’ve listed some items that we always hunt for on our shopping days!

  • Beauty Items (Stores like Sephora and Ulta always have some fun steals! The perfect time to buy the product you’re dying to try)
  • Apple Products (They’ve always got something new we want…)
  • Luxury Items at an even Cheaper Price (We’re headed to Neiman Marcus Last Call and Off 5th!)

Don’t stress if you don’t find ALL of your gifts this Friday.. there is always Cyber Monday, right?!

TGI TIPS: How to Handle Holiday In-Store Shopping

· Do it Solo Research shows that when shopping with a spouse or children, you are more likely to spend more time and money.  Focus on the task at hand and head to shops at off-hours or on weekdays.

· Support Local Businesses- Support your neighborhood brick-and-mortars this season by doing your in-store shopping on Small Business Saturday, November 24th.

· Browse Before You Go Use the Catalogue App to check out all the latest catalogues from 100’s of national chains. Take note of what you need from each retailer so you can stay focused and save time.

· Black Friday- Caution, this is a very stressful day to shop, if you can handle it, go for it. If not, spend the day organizing your online plan of attack for Cyber Monday.
